Tennis Center earns top recognition

The Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Center was named a Premier Facility by the United States Tennis Association on Thursday, May 2, 2024.

The Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Center was named a United States Tennis Association Premier Facility on Thursday.

The USTA’s Premier Facility program launched this year in an effort to create a standard of excellence throughout the tennis industry and recognize the top of the line facilities around the nation. In the inaugural class, 50 of the top tennis facilities in the country were recognized.

Locally, the tennis center offers six outdoor courts, six indoor courts, classes, clinics, lessons, camps, leagues and is home to the Steamboat Springs Sailors’ tennis teams.

In order to have eligibility for the Premier Facility program, a facility must be a USTA member organization, employ certified teaching professionals and abide by the USTA’s Safe Play program. Additionally, facilities must provide a wide array of tennis programming from beginner-level work to social programs.

Centers recognized as Premier Facilities received physical and digital signage to acknowledge their designation.

“The Premier Facility program will lead to industry-wide improvements to the tennis delivery system and elevate the consumer experience,” said Craig Morris, Chief Executive Community Tennis for the USTA, in a news release. “Facilities like the Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Center play an important role in growing tennis and are deserving of this recognition.”
