Tennis Center Opens its doors after months of exciting renovations!

The Tennis Center reopened its doors in November after months of renovations that included replacing the exterior membrane and insulation, updating lighting, and resurfacing and repainting indoor tennis courts. The full renovation is 75% complete, and within $800K of the approximate $2.8M total budget needed to fully renovate the Tennis Center, with only the renovation of the Welcome Center outstanding.

Cost estimates to refresh the Tennis Center ranged between $2M-$3M, with needed repairs including replacing the exterior membrane that was installed in 2005, replacing insulation, updating lighting, resurfacing and repainting indoor tennis courts, and refreshing the Welcome Center. All renovations, except for the Welcome Center refresh, will be complete by the Center’s Grand Opening, with $800K remaining in the Courting Love capital campaign needed to fund the total project.

“We are two thirds of the way finished with our Courting Love fundraising goal to complete the project, with our final renovation item being renovating the Welcome Center, including the front desk area, pro shop, locker rooms, and mezzanine,” said Meg Tully, Executive Director, Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Complex. “This final phase will begin once the project is fully funded.”

Court Sports for Life Foundation attributes its fundraising success to date to raising over $1.1M+ from individual supporters through its Courting Love capital campaign which began in 2023, $500,000 committed by the City in 2022, its highly popular Center Court Smash fundraising gala that took place in July, and receiving a $200,000 grant in September from the United States Tennis Association. The organization is now within $800K of the approximate $2.8M total budget needed to fully renovate the Tennis Center.

To spur the final fundraising goal to complete the project, two anonymous donors have combined to offer a $100K, “2X Holiday Match”! This means that every dollar donated to the Courting Love Campaign will be doubled (up to $100,000), through the end of 2025.

“We are this close to completing the Tennis Center renovation, and our hope is that the Steamboat Springs community will help our nonprofit organization reach the finish line,” said Tully. “The much-needed renovations to the Tennis Center will support youth, adults and seniors in the Steamboat Springs area community and beyond. We are most grateful for the community’s ongoing support.”

The Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Complex is operated by the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Court Sports for Life Foundation and donations are tax-deductible.
