Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Complex to host United Pickleball State Championship

Series to take place at newly constructed, $12M Pickleball Center

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Steamboat Springs, Colorado (July 10, 2024) The United Pickleball Association (UPA) has announced it will host the Colorado United Pickleball State Championship Series September 13-15, 2024, at the newly-constructed Pickleball Center at the Steamboat Springs Tennis and Pickleball Complex, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The Colorado UPA State Championships will identify the top amateur pickleball players in the country, with one hundred percent of tournament proceeds benefitting local youth pickleball outreach through the Steamboat Springs Pickleball Association and Stop Alzheimers Now, a dedicated organization focused on eradicating Alzheimer’s disease by funding cutting-edge research aimed at finding a cure.

The PPA Tour and Major League Pickleball (MLP), now operating under the umbrella of the United Pickleball Association, have selected Pickleball Is Great (PIG), top manage the State Championship tournament series. Pickleball Is Great is the premiere and largest Pickleball tournament management company in the United States, with an intense focus on the player experience. Pickleball Is Great is scheduled to put on over 115 tournaments this year.

Colorado UPA State Championship Series will take place at the newly constructed Pickleball Center, within the Steamboat Tennis & Pickleball Complex, which will open its doors in July. The Pickleball Center, which broke ground in 2023, at an investment totaling over $12M, features 12 cushioned indoor pickleball courts, a pro shop, and dedicated mezzanine level for tournament viewing and entertainment.

“To host a national tournament of this caliber at our brand new Pickleball facility is an honor of the highest caliber,” said Jayson Harris, Director of Pickleball, Steamboat Tennis & Pickleball Complex. “Never before has a championship Pickleball series been held in Colorado- we are thrilled to welcome players from across the state here to Steamboat.”

The winners across each skill level and age group will earn the title of UPA State Champion.

Each State Championship Medalist will qualify for the elite Champions Division brackets, earning the potential to move on to the UPA World Championships at the Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas, Texas on November 4-10, 2024.
